Sydney Starr
I first began piano lessons when I was five years old, with Ms. Andrea, and have continued until graduation—13 years later! I studied with Ms. Becky and Ms. Sarah, spending nearly the last ten years with Ms. Sarah.
Over the years I have definitely had my ups and downs with piano, and considered quitting more than once. In the end though, I am so grateful that I stuck with it. Piano has taught me how to be diligent, consistent, dedicated, and persistent—qualities I wouldn’t have learned with just regular school.
It has also given me a creative outlet and a way to express myself; through high school I have fallen more in love with piano and have come to enjoy it more than ever before. Now, I really view it as a beautiful gift and privilege to play, and when I share it with others, it has become a special and intimate gift.
When I’m not playing piano, you can find me baking, reading, and gardening. Piano is a cornerstone of my life, learning to play throughout my childhood has directly shaped me into the person I am today, and I’m so grateful to Harmony Road and my parents for giving me the opportunity to develop this skill!
